Job growth at 66-year low in NM

New Mexico lost 30,900 jobs from September 2008 to September 2009. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for the month was 7.7 percent, reported the Department of Workforce Solutions. That’s up from a revised 7.4 percent in August and 4.4 percent one year ago. The rate of job growth from September 2008 to September 2009 was negative 3.6 percent. This was a slight improvement over August’s negative 3.8 percent growth, the lowest level the state had seen since December 1943.
